About

My interest in photography started when I was in my teens when I used Asahi Pentax cameras. My first SLR camera was the Pentax KX, and after a couple of years upgraded to the then flagship K2. As time when by, money was required for more "important" things, so the photography bug was put on hold.

It's only in the past few years that I have been able to rekindle my interest in photography - the old K2 was part exchanged for a Pentax MX-7 with a few lenses. Shortly afterwards I started to look into digital, and bought a Fuji 2400Z. For a "compact" camera the results were very good, but I soon became frustrated with it's lack of versatility, and it's speed to respond.

I started to look at the digital SLR range - and Nikon was my first choice as Pentax didn't have any digital SLR models on the European market at the time. When I saw the cost of these units I decided on the Fuji S2 Pro. For a "prosumer" camera it gave very, very good results.

My finances changed (for the better!) and I had the opportunity to buy a 6 month old Nikon D1x, and at the time it was Nikons flagship digital SLR. I sold the S2 pro. The D1x served me well, and during my 9 months sabatical during 2004 everywhere I went, my trusty D1x followed.

In February 2005 Nikon released the D2x, so I had to purchase one. The D2x can produce outstanding images - and is very unforgiving if you have bad technique. I do still miss my D1x though!
